
The Grandma's Cookies sign
For years, motorists looking across the north side of Lake Union could gaze upon the 220-foot-long sign whose 30-foot-high letters proudly announced in bold neon: "Grandma's Cookies." The cookie factory consolidated its baking operation in Oregon in 1970, and an electronics firm moved in. The business complained about roof leaks it blamed on the sign, which came down in 1978.
