A record crowd of 10,000 cheers on the Huskies as they hosted the No. 1-ranked and undefeated Stanford Cardinal on March 6. UW's tenacious defense kept the Cardinal in check, however, and the Huskies pulled off the stunning 75-62 upset. It was the Huskies' 12th win in their final 13 regular-season Pac-10 games. It was also the first time the Huskies had beaten a No. 1 team since 1979.
