The Huskies were chosen to play in the NCAA tournament the next day after the Pac-10 tourney was completed. UW was seeded 8th and sent to Columbus, Ohio, for a first-round game against the Alabama-Birmingham Blazers. The Blazers proved to be a tough matchup for the Huskies, however: They played the same style of run-and-gun as the scrappy Huskies, but their bench was a little deeper. The Blazers won 102-100, sending the Huskies home with a loss in their first NCAA appearance in five years.
