SALT LAKE CITY — Solitude Mountain Resort and Brighton Resort are both expected to open beginner and intermediate terrain soon for the season.

Officials at Solitude say the resorts typically don't open until the week before Thanksgiving but they have been making snow for about a week and more is expected in a weekend storm.

Solitude opened before Halloween a few years ago because of early snow.

The number of lifts and runs that will open next week depends on how much snow falls and how much the resorts can make.

Alta plans to open Nov. 18, while Park City Mountain Resort and Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort are tentatively scheduled to open Nov. 19, Snowbasin on Nov. 24 and Canyons on Nov. 25. Deer Valley is scheduled to open Dec. 3.
