Church bazaars and more this weekend around Seattle

CRAFTS AND TREASURES: Shop for jewelry, textiles, photography, Tibetan and Palestinian handcrafts and vintage items Friday-Sunday at a gala sale at Trinity Parish Episcopal Church. Jewelry, decorations, crafts, and books will be for sale Saturday at the Ballard Elks Club. Lunch will also be available. Also on Saturday is a gift fair at Richmond Beach Congregational Church featuring fair-trade products from around the world, and an international crafts fair at St. John's Episcopal in Kirkland. HOLIDAY BOOKS: Chances are there's a book-lover or two on your holiday shopping list. Get a jump start on ideas by spending some time with Seattle's resident librarian Nancy Pearl. She will offer her advice on great books for gift-giving Saturday at the Burien Library. More info on Page 12.

WINTER BREWS: Wine tastings are common this time of year, but beer lovers will want to drop by the Phinney Neighborhood Center on Saturday for its Winter Beer Taste. Ten winter brews and other selections from 28 breweries will be available as well as snacks, bluegrass music and a silent auction. See Page 11.

RAIN PLAN: Who knows how long the rain will keep up, but it's the season for stormy weather. If you're looking for something to do indoors, consider a visit to the Museum of Glass in Tacoma and the Tacoma Art Museum where there's a special admission price this weekend for both museums' exhibitions of Native American art. PROWLING FOR OWLS: Why go to the movies when you can spend an evening prowling for owls? Just in case it's not raining, or you feel like braving the weather for a little unique outdoor fun, there's a night hike Friday starting at 7 p.m. at the Lewis Creek Park and Visitor Center in Bellevue. Bring a flashlight and join the fun as the group looks for owls and other nocturnal wildlife in the park. See Page 12.
