Pix From My Weekend
Seattle Times reader Ben Henwood's photo of sailboat shadows in a sunset on Puget Sound.
Photographer: Ben Henwood, Seattle
Photo taken: July 2, Sunset Hill Park, Seattle
Photographer's description: "We took my parents to see a glowing sunset on a hot day at Sunset Hill Park and I noticed the very long shadows projected by the sailboats in the foreground and the bright orange glow in the sky as the sun sank low on the horizon. Taken with a Sony Alpha 700."
Expert says: "This image shows viewers how light can become the subject of a picture. Naturally, our gaze begins at the top of the frame with the sun, then our eyes look downward to the reflection of its rays upon the water, and finally, to the triangular shaped sail shadows below. This photographer captured a moment neatly packaged by nature's visual elements."
