Your room: The Edgewater, a landmark hotel on the Seattle waterfront where the Beatles stayed in 1964. You used to be able to fish from your window, but no more. Now a luxury lodge, the hotel has 223 rooms, all with gas fireplaces and about half with views directly overlooking Elliott Bay. Within a short walk or free ride on the Route 99 bus are attractions such as the Washington State Ferries and the Seattle Aquarium. $287 for a mid-July Saturday. 2411 Alaskan Way, Pier 67; www.edgewaterhotel.com.
Dinner: You're on the waterfront. Eat like a fisherman. Lots of choices, but you can always dine in style inside or on the outdoor patio at the Fish Club. Local Penn Cove mussels to share, Caesar salad, poached King salmon with dates, grapes and ginger, $75. 2100 Alaskan Way. www.fishclubseattle.com.
Breakfast: Ride the free bus or walk to the Pike Place Market, and have your eggs with a water view at Lowell's. Make your choice in the cafeteria line at the entrance and claim a table on the third floor where the views are the best. Someone will deliver your order. Two eggs with hash browns and toast: $6.95 each. 1519 Pike Place. www.eatatlowells.com.
Before checkout: Walk a few blocks north to the Seattle Art Museum's Olympic Sculpture Park. Bring a book and relax on one of the "Eye Benches" carved out of granite by Italian stonemasons, or jog along the paved paths in nearby Myrtle Edwards Park. 2901 Western Ave.; www.seattleartmuseum.org.
The damage: $376 + taxes and tips.
