More weekend festivals

There's lots more going on this weekend:

Chili Palooza. Bean lovers unite this Saturday afternoon in Haller Lake. Each participating chili chef is required to bring 2 gallons — who doesn't love a food that can be measured in gallons? — of his or her best chili. The public — that's us — gets to spend the next four hours tasting their bean-filled masterpieces and awarding prizes accordingly.

Seattle Pride Parade. This Sunday, downtown Seattle will alight with glittery floats, drag queens and twirling performers, waving all the colors of the rainbow. The rumbling parade of Dykes on Bikes promises to steal the show.

International Festival . If your summer plans don't include a foray abroad, come on down to SeaTac this Friday, Saturday and Sunday for a dose of international culture. There'll be live music, dance performances and a parade of international costumes to keep your wanderlust in check.

Leavenworth International Accordion Celebration. Come to Leavenworth Thursday through Sunday to find out everything you ever wanted to know — and a few things you didn't — about the accordion. The accordion-playing competition promises to be lively.

Slug Fest . In this day and age, there's a celebration for everything. Case in point? This Saturday and Sunday in Eatonville, we'll be celebrating ... the slug. That's right. There's going to be a slug hunt, slug-themed crafts, "slime treats," and even a human slug race.

Midsommarfest . Come to Kenmore this Sunday for a crash course in traditional folk dancing. There'll be a costume show, dance lessons, a pole-raising ceremony, and flower crowns for the children — or for that flower child in all of us.
