Clubs and organizations. More weekend festivals
There's lots more going on this weekend: Bell Street Pier Classic Rendezvous. This is the festival that launched a thousand ships. Or at least 40. Come down to the Seattle Waterfront Saturday and Sunday to check out the luxury and beauty of 40 classic yachts. If you want to board, don't forget your soft-soled shoes. First Harvest 2007 Farm Celebration. Curious about what a tractor looked like right after WWII? Then head over to Redmond Saturday and Sunday to watch the tractor parade, showcasing tractors from the '40s to modern times. U-pick produce, hayrides, live music and dancing will take you back to the Golden Years. Marysville Strawberry Festival. If the promise of fresh strawberries, strawberry shortcake and strawberry ice cream isn't enough to make you high-tail it to Marysville Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the promise of a pig-calling contest should do the trick. Also check out the Tulalip Salmon Ceremony honoring the first salmon of the harvest season. Fun on the Foss. In the Pacific Northwest, boats are king. Fishing boats. Pontoon boats. Cruising boats. Runabouts. You name it. Saturday and Sunday, a marina in Tacoma will host 20-40-minute boat rides on any of the above — and a giant inflatable pirate ship to boot. Olympic Air Show. Head down to Olympia Saturday and Sunday to check out military aircraft from the 1940s to the present. Best of all, watch a few of them take to the skies. Washington Brewers Festival. Taste a selection of more than 150 Washington state craft beers in Kenmore Saturday and Sunday. Nibble on an array of appetizers, check out the craft vendors, and — why not? — maybe even try your arm at an old-fashioned keg toss.
