Travel tips from a physician for surviving a Himalayan adventure

Dr. Andrew Luks, a Seattle physician who has worked with the Himalayan Rescue Association in Nepal, will host a presentation titled: "How to Travel Safely at High Altitude," 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at KAVU, 5423 Ballard Ave. N.W. in Seattle. Details: 206-783-0060.

Earth Share of Washington welcomes volunteers of all ages 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. July 29 at the Beaver Lake Preserve in Sammamish, Carkeek Park and Golden Gardens Park in Seattle, PAWS Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Lynnwood and Seahurst Park in Burien.

Volunteers will remove invasive plant species, plant trees and native vegetation, clean up beaches and rebuild hiking trails. Details: 206-622-9840 or www.dayinthepark.org.

Come learn about the native banana slug at Northwest Trek in Eatonville, Pierce County, at Slug Fest, 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. June 24-25.

Tom O'Keefe will host a slide show titled "The Last Descent on the Mighty Yangtze River," 7 p.m. Monday at the Issaquah King County Library Administrative Headquarters, 960 Newport Way N.W. in Issaquah.
