Outdoors notes "Heron Cam" provides view of March's Point nestSeattle Times staff reporter Wildlife watchers can now get a bird's-eye view of the great blue herons nesting on Skagit County's March's Point, located on six acres of land owned by several groups, including Skagit Land Trust. The "Heron Cam" is located 70 feet up in a tree and provides virtual access to the birds. More than 550 pairs of nesting great blue herons reside in the colony, believed to be the largest of its type in the Western United States. The heron-nest camera may be viewed in the Breazeale Interpretive Center, 10441 Bayview-Edison Road in Bay View, a quarter-mile north of Bay View State Park. The center is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays. A special presentation about the heronry and heron camera will take place at the center at 12:30 p.m. June 11. Details: 360-428-7878. The West End Sportsman Club in Forks on the Olympic Peninsula is hosting a Kids Fishing Day starting at 6 a.m. Sunday at the Bogachiel Hatchery Rearing Ponds.
