Two King County Parks camping areas — Tolt-MacDonald in Carnation and King County Fairgrounds in Enumclaw — are getting a facelift in time for the summer rush. Finishing touches should be completed by mid-July. The Tolt-MacDonald Park & Campground offers hiking, bird-watching and fishing, and is located near the Tolt and Snoqualmie rivers, also popular for river tubing. The campground has 28 individual campsites and two group sites.

The King County Fairgrounds will have 28 paved sites with full RV hook-ups for water and electricity. To reserve a site at Tolt-MacDonald Park call 206-205-7532, and for the fairgrounds call 206-296-8888 or 360-825-7777.

The Hood Canal spot-shrimp season will be open Saturday and May 19, 22 and 26. Shrimping is allowed from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day. Additional openings on May 29 or June 2 will depend on this month's catch rates. The open shrimping areas are south of the Hood Canal Bridge only. Sport fishermen are limited to one shrimp pot per person, with a daily limit of 80 shrimp. Details: 866-880-5431 or www.wdfw.wa.gov

Celebrate South Puget Sound wild salmon and learn more about the future of local fish stocks at a community forum 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at the Olympia Center, 222 N. Columbia St. in Olympia. Details: 360-753-2600, Ext. 219.
