Bettman, Daly mention
Seattle in interviews
The league has been operating the Phoenix Coyotes, who play in Glendale, Ariz., for the past two seasons, and there is speculation the franchise might move. Cities often mentioned in such speculation include Quebec City and Seattle.
League commissioner Gary Bettman, speaking after a board of governors meeting in Ottawa, said the league hopes to complete a sale before the end of the season to keep the Coyotes in Glendale and added, "I don't see any reason to discuss a Plan B at this point."
According to ESPN.com, Bettman also said, "There are a lot of people who think Seattle would be a great place to have a team. The Pacific Northwest, the natural rivalry with Vancouver, another team in the Pacific time zone ... but there's no building."
Meanwhile, deputy commissioner Bill Daly told media at All-Star weekend in Ottawa that Quebec City remains a possibility if the Coyotes need to be relocated.
According to a CBC Sports report, Daly added there are other options, such as Seattle.
"Quebec is a possibility to get Phoenix next year, but it is not alone," said Daly, according to CBC Sports.
Crosby had neck injury
Sidney Crosby isn't just dealing with the lingering effects of a concussion. A California doctor said the Pittsburgh Penguins' superstar also has recovered from a neck injury.
And Crosby's agent, Pat Brisson, said he can't rule out the possibility the injury could be to Crosby's vertebrae. Crosby visited with neurological spine specialist Dr. Robert S. Bray in Los Angeles last week as he continues treatment for symptoms that resurfaced during a loss to Boston on Dec. 5.
Penguins officials said Bray discovered an unspecified neck injury, though they said Bray told them the neck injury is "fully healed."
