With heavy snow predicted to fall in the Cascades Wednesday and Thursday, Crystal Mountain is planning to open for skiing Friday, just four months after closing in July.
"It's a bold move to announce the opening date before we have enough snow," marketing director Tiana Enger said in a news release. "But we are pretty confident that the weather will produce enough snow over the next couple days to put us in really good shape for a limited opening on Friday."
Two lifts — the Mt. Rainier Gondola and Green Valley — are expected to run 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday. Three more lifts — Discovery, Chinook Express and Forest Queen Express — are expected to open Saturday.
Reduced lift tickets for Friday can be purchased for $35. Gondola rides are available for $20.
Mount Baker Ski Area could decide Wednesday to schedule a Friday opening as well.
