Washington's Scott Roth soared to a school record in the pole vault Saturday to beat a field of pros at the Mt. SAC Relays, posting the best mark by an American indoors or outdoors in 2011.
Roth, the two-time NCAA indoor champion and six-time All-American, won the event with a clearance of 18 feet, 9 ¼ inches, surpassing Brad Walker's UW mark of 18-4 ½.
On the track, the Huskies' 400 relay got its second straight win, taking the Olympic Development Elite section in 40.30 seconds.
Baseball
California's Tony Renda had three hits, including a crucial three-run double in a five-run second inning, as the 16th-ranked Bears beat Washington (10-22, 2-6 Pac-10) 7-2.
Washington had taken the lead with two runs in the first, but the Bears went ahead with the five-run second.
• Arlo Evasick earned his first pitching victory of the season, allowing four hits and a walk with four strikeouts in six innings, helping Seattle University to a 5-0 win over Central Washington (14-15) at Bannerwood Park.
Josh Kutz, Josh Kalalau and Nate Roberts each homered for the Redhawks (14-15).
• Arizona State scored three runs in both the third and fourth innings to run away with an 8-2 victory over Washington State (14-16, 2-9 Pac-10) in Tempe.
• Loyola Marymount beat Gonzaga (20-11-1, 4-1 West Coast) 9-4 in Los Angeles.
Softball
Seventh-ranked Washington dropped a 13-5, five-inning decision to No. 8 Arizona in Tucson. Kimi Pohlman had two hits and three RBI for the Huskies (30-5, 5-3 Pac-10).

• After a solid 8-2 win to open Saturday's doubleheader against Utah Valley, Seattle University (8-24, 4-2 Pacific Coast Softball Conference) dropped an 8-4 decision at Logan Field.
• Lauren Hadenfeld allowed just one earned run with 14 strikeouts over a combined 10 innings, and Central Washington (21-11, 15-5 Great Northwest Athletic Conference) had five home runs among its 29 hits in a doubleheader sweep of Northwest Nazarene, 8-5 and 18-6, in Ellensburg.
Men's golf
Washington State finished tied for eighth, 23 shots behind winner Colorado, at the PING Cougar Classic in Provo, Utah.
Men's tennis
Washington (16-8), ranked 20th, rolled to a 6-1 win over Portland on Senior Day at Bill Quillian Stadium.
It was a big day for senior Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan, who teamed with Kyle McMorrow for an 8-5 win over Alex Ferrero and Ratan Gill for his school-record 84th career doubles victory, then rolled to a 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 win over Ferrero at No. 1 singles.
• Seattle University won four of five completed singles matches to defeat North Carolina Central, 4-1, and earn second place at the National Independent Tournament in Richmond, Va.
Other track and field
Seattle Pacific's Kishia Mitchell ran the second-fastest 100 (12.10 seconds) and the sixth-fastest 200 (25.21) in GNAC history, winning both races at the Spike Arlt Invitational in Ellensburg.
Western Washington had two event winners: Sierra Brisky (10,000, 39:14.7) and Erin Philbeck (5,000, 19:44.37).
Rowing
Seattle Pacific won all six races against Seattle University in the Raptor Cup regatta on the Lake Washington Ship Canal. Among the victories was a win in the women's varsity eight in 7 minutes, 20.80 seconds, with the Redhawks crossing the line in 8:11.49.
• The Gonzaga women put together their best performance of the season, winning three of four races at the Western Washington Regatta on Lake Samish. Along with victories in the novice 8+ and varsity 4+, the Bulldogs won the marquee varsity 8+ in 6:37.7, three seconds ahead of six-time NCAA Division II national champion Western (6:40.4).

• CageSport title bouts between light heavyweights Trevor Smith and Jared Torgeson and welterweights Tim Welch and Dave Courchaine highlight CageSport XIV at the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma on Saturday.
