Seattle Pacific loses to No. 7 Western Washington 67-57
Vikings stay undefeated in Great Northwest Athletic Conference play
BELLINGHAM — Nyesha Sims scored 12 points and was one of three Seattle Pacific players in double figures, but the Falcons were stymied by some cold shooting at the start of the second half and dropped a 67-57 decision to No. 7 Western Washington in a regionally televised Great Northwest Athletic Conference women's basketball game Wednesday night.
Senior guard Maddie Maloney of Skyline High and senior center Melissa Reich of Bellevue Christian each added 11 points for SPU (13-6, 7-4 GNAC).
Western Washington (18-1, 11-0 GNAC) had four players in double figures, led by 14 points apiece from Lauren Hefflin and Corinn Waltrip.
After a first half during which the lead changed hands 11 times and the score was tied four times, Seattle Pacific missed its first six shots of the second half and hit just one of its first 12 as the Vikings expanded a 33-32 halftime lead to 45-36.
Silvertips edge Kamloops
Tyler Maxwell scored two goals, including the goal-ahead goal with 3:31 remaining, as the visiting Everett Silvertips earned a 3-2 victory over the Kamloops Blazers in a Western Hockey League game.
Maxwell broke a 2-2 tie with a power-play goal at the 16:29 mark of the third. He also scored earlier in the period. Ryan Murray also scored for the Silvertips.
Everett's Kent Simpson saved 36 of 38 shots.

Overall, the five-man Huskies team shot an even-par 288 and is 14th out of 20 teams after the first of three rounds.
Sophomore Chris Williams led the Huskies' charge and ended up 3-under par for his first round. His 69 on the par-72, 7,074-yard course left him tied for 10th.
