Washington stealth tops Minnesota to stay undefeated

EVERETT — Jeff Zywicki had four goals and four assists to earn game MVP honors, and the Washington Stealth rolled to a 12-9 victory over the Minnesota Swarm in National Lacrosse League action Friday night at Comcast Arena.
Rhys Duch added a hat trick and four assists, and Matt Roik made 29 saves in goal for the West Division-leading Stealth, at 6-0 the only undefeated team in the league.
Golf
Washington rallied for a second-place finish at the Mauna Lani Invitational in Waikoloa, Hawaii. The Huskies, who entered the final round in first place by two strokes, fell back far as fifth before two birdies down the stretch by Richard Lee and Nick Taylor's birdie on No. 18 moved them into a tie with Oregon at 5-over 869. Stanford won the event at 2-over 866.
Women's tennis
Back in the Top 20 for the first time in five years, No. 20 Washington (4-1) made quick work of Portland at Nordstrom Tennis Center, sweeping the Pilots 7-0.
• Seattle University swept past Pacific Lutheran 9-0 at the Amy Yee Tennis Club.
Men's tennis
Four singles wins and a clutch doubles point win lifted 24th-ranked Washington (6-1) to a 5-2 win over Mississippi State in the Great Northwest Shootout at the Nordstrom Tennis Center.
• Seattle University pulled out a 5-4 victory over Willamette University in Salem, Ore.
Basketball
Blake Solomon scored a game-high 25 points to lead the Northwest University men (14-10, 8-5 Cascade Collegiate Conference) to a 90-82 victory over Southern Oregon in Ashland, Ore.

• The Northwest U. women (13-8, 9-4 CCC) fell 74-62 at Southern Oregon.
Softball
Central Washington totaled 10 hits in its first two games of the season, but the Wildcats couldn't push across a run in falling twice on the opening day of the Mizuno Best of the West Invitational in Turlock, Calif. The Wildcats fell to UC San Diego, 2-0, and to Cal State Dominguez Hills, 3-0.
Gymnastics
Anissa Madrid placed third in the beam (9.650) and all-around (38.000), helping Seattle Pacific post a season-best team score of 188.550 to finish behind host UC Davis (194.250) in a dual meet.
Track and field
Washington State's Kendall Mays won the women's pole vault with an NCAA provisional qualifying height of 13 feet, 4 ¼ inches at the Vandal Indoor in Moscow, Idaho. Other Cougars winners included Jasmine Johnson-McKeown (discus, 158-8; 60-meter dash, lifetime-best 7.69 seconds) and David Hickerson (800, personal-record 1:54.35).
Notes
• Isiah Barton, a 6-1, 190-pound wideout who was a walk-on at Fresno State in 2008 and an all-league receiver at Fresno City College last season, has signed a letter of intent with Washington State. The Cougars also got a commitment for 2011 from 6-3, 230-pound tight end Max Hersey of Curtis High, according to Cougfan.com.
• Former WSU basketball player Paul Lindemann, who led the Cougars to their first NCAA tournament appearance in 1941, will be among 10 players inducted into the Pac-10 Men's Basketball Hall of Honor on March 13.
