Seattle University men play at Utah
Seattle University, which beat Weber State on Sunday to improve its record to 2-2, will play at Utah (2-1) in a 6 p.m. game today.
The Redhawks then travel to Las Vegas for games Friday against Presbyterian and Saturday against Wofford in the Las Vegas Invitational.
Both of those games will start at 2:30 p.m.
Notes
• Gonzaga senior Vivian Frieson of Seattle's Garfield High has been named women's basketball West Coast Conference Player of the Week. Teammate Courtney Vandersloot of Kentwood earned the honor last week.
• Eastern Washington quarterback Matt Nichols was named one of four National All-Stars by College Sporting News and was the Big Sky Conference co-Offensive Player of the Week. He ended the regular season by completing 22 of 33 passes for 408 yards with five touchdowns and no interceptions in the Eagles' 49-45 win over Northern Arizona. The Eagles play at Stephen F. Austin in the FCS playoffs at noon Saturday.
• Junior Chris Banchero, who led Seattle Pacific to two 18-point victories, received the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week award for men's basketball.
• The Washington Stealth of the National Lacrosse League has announced three new members of the coaching staff. Dan Stroup, Dave Evans and Rick Lum will join Stealth coach Chris Hall and defensive coordinator Art Webster for the 2010 season.
• The Washington women's soccer team landed eight players on the Pac-10 All-Academic teams the conference announced, including sophomore Kari Davidson who earned first-team honors.
In addition to Davidson, seven Huskies earned honorable mention: seniors Lindsey Kasser and Veronica Perez, juniors Hannah Greig and Kendyl Pele and sophomores Kate Deines, Kelli Stewart and Alex Webber. The eight total honorees are the most for the Huskies since they also had eight in 2000.
