Dozens of crews battle at 28th Head of the Lake regatta
The regatta featured a mix of collegiate, Canadian collegiate and club teams, who raced along a 3.1-mile course from Lake Union through the Montlake Cut.
The University of Washington crews dominated the 29th Head of the Lake regatta Sunday morning.
In the varsity eight competitions, UW men's crews won three of the top four spots, while the UW women bested Washington State (second place) and Gonzaga (third).
The regatta featured a mix of collegiate, Canadian collegiate and club teams, who raced along a 3.1-mile course from Lake Union through the Montlake Cut.
The regatta included 32 events and was co-hosted by the Lake Washington Rowing Club and the Huskies crew program.
Tennis
• Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan and Brad Bator won out in the all-UW finals of the inaugural Pacific Northwest Intercollegiates at the Nordstrom Tennis Center. The tournament featured players from UW, Oregon, Boise State, Portland, Portland State, Idaho, Eastern Washington, and Gonzaga and marked the first home action for UW since last spring.
Basketball
• In Cheney, center Brandon Moore had a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds as Eastern Washington held off Montana State Billings 67-58 in an exhibition game.
• At Pullman, guard April Cook scored 17 points as the WSU women's basketball team defeated Eastern Oregon 94-52 in the team's final exhibition contest.
Soccer
• Senior Alex Kirk had a career day at Husky Soccer Field, scoring a pair of goals to lead the Washington women (11-5-4) to a 2-2 draw with USC in the regular-season finale for both teams. The NCAA Selection Show airs today at 5 p.m. on ESPNews.
• The Washington State women (13-5-2) lost 2-0 to UCLA.

• In men's soccer, UW sophomore Jamie Finch scored his first career goal in a 2-1 loss at UCLA. The Huskies (5-6-6) have one game remaining.
• The Seattle University men (4-11-1) beat Cal State Bakersfield, 3-2, on a muddy Championship Field. Bothell's Sean Morris scored the deciding goal.
Football
• Central Washington (11-0), which enters the postseason as the only undefeated team in NCAA Div. II football, will be the No. 1 seed in its region and received a first-round bye as tournament selections were announced Sunday. The Wildcats will host a playoff game on Nov. 21 at noon at Tomlinson Stadium against the winner of fourth-seeded Texas A&M-Kingsville (9-2) and fifth-seeded Tarleton State (9-2).
