Winger's deal with Vancouver is worth $7.5 million: Right wing Mikael Samuelsson signed a $7.5 million, three-year contract with the Vancouver Canucks on Friday.
"Obviously [the money]was the key, I shouldn't lie," Samuelsson said in a conference call after signing the deal.
Samuelsson, 32, spent the past four seasons in Detroit, winning the Stanley Cup in 2008 and falling one game short this year. He had 19 goals and 21 assists in the 2008-09 regular season and was part of Sweden's gold-medal-winning team at the 2006 Olympics.
He is the third forward to leave the Red Wings this week. Marian Hossa and Tomas Kopecky became Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday.

A man, identified by police as Chang, told the woman to stop filming the fight. Police said a struggle ensued and the suspect allegedly took the camera and threw it on the roof of a nearby building.
Chang holds the NCAA career record in passing yards with 17,072. He last played in the Canadian Football League and was released by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in February.
