MADISON, Ind. — Seattle's Dave Villwock turned in the fastest qualifying speed Friday of the six boats that qualified for Sunday's Indiana Governor's Cup final.
Villwock posted a lap of 155.004 mph in the Miss Elam Plus. Defending ABRA champion Steve David in the Oh Boy! Oberto was second at 154.551.
Villwock has won the Madison race eight times since 1997.
"That is a sign of a good team," he said after he was crowned the day's top qualifier. "We worked through the trouble and made up for it when it counted."
