Connor's Buddy wins feature at Emerald Downs

AUBURN — Connor's Buddy, with a perfectly timed ride by Cassie Papineau, caught Last Time Around late for a neck victory in Saturday's featured $16,500 Cascade Coffee Purse for 3-year-olds at Emerald Downs.
Connor's Buddy ran one mile in 1 minute, 38 seconds and paid $25.60 to win.
A Washington-bred by Matricule, Connor's Buddy has three wins in his last four starts.
Papineau picked up the mount on Connor's Buddy after regular rider Juan Gutierrez was unseated by Country Ledo in the opening strides of the seventh race. He was taken to a hospital for precautionary X-rays on his back.
