Meeks surpasses Issel's school record: Jodie Meeks scored a school-record 54 points to lead Kentucky to a 90-72 Southeastern Conference victory at No. 24 Tennessee on Tuesday night.
Meeks surpassed Hall of Famer Dan Issel's school record of 53 points, set in a 1970 game at Mississippi.
"It means a lot to be in the same sentence as Dan Issel," Meeks said. "It's mind-boggling. I was just out there playing to win."
Meeks was 15 of 22 from the field, connecting on 10 of 15 three-point attempts, and made all 14 of his free throws. Meeks' previous high was 46 points, against Appalachian State on Dec. 20.

Orlando displays three-point Magic: The Orlando Magic made a league-record 23 three-pointers in a 139-107 victory over host Sacramento.
Orlando connected on 23 of 37 three-point attempts to surpass Toronto's record of 21 three-point baskets in a 2005 game against Philadelphia.

ATP, WTA tours to offer live matches on the Internet: The ATP and WTA tours will offer fans the chance to see more pro matches live on the Internet this year — for a price.
The men's and women's tours announced the creation of TennisTV.com, offering streaming video from 41 events, including the Masters series and the season-ending championships but excluding the four Grand Slam tournaments.
Not everyone around the world will be able to purchase a pass to the site. The WTA is excluding users in all European countries and some others, and the ATP is not offering the live service in Brazil, according to the Web site.

The men's and women's finals of this year's Sony Ericsson Open in Key Biscayne, Fla., will also be blacked out in the United States.
Where it is available, subscribers will be charged $129.95 for a full-access pass to the season. A pass for men's tennis runs $84.95, and a pass for women's tennis costs $69.95. Viewers can also purchase day or tournament-specific passes for lower prices.
Overall, the two tours plan to provide eligible fans with access to about 700 live streaming matches.

Vancouver athletes village is a home for uncertainty: Organizers of the 2010 Vancouver Games are open to ideas on how the city can save money on completing the athletes' village. But the organizing committee isn't considering cuts of its own.
"In our budget, the number-one priority is to protect the athletes' conditions for the Games," said John Furlong, chief executive officer of VANOC. "That isn't to say we wouldn't work with the city to look at anything they come up with that's an idea."
The village is the lone major-construction Olympic project yet to be finished. The sports venues are built and test events are being held this winter.
The city has been covering the cost of construction on the village since October, when the lender stopped payment pending a renegotiation of a $612 million construction loan taken out by the developers. City officials are looking to borrow the remaining $374 million needed to get the village done on time in case the deal falls through.
The city hasn't yet suggested it would change the design or specifications of the village. VANOC is expected to take possession of the village's 1,100 units and other facilities this fall.
Rating agency Standard & Poor's placed a watch on Vancouver's credit rating, saying the impact on the city's debt from the deal could be significant.
"Depending on the scope of the city's financial obligation, we believe Vancouver's potential debt burden might not be consistent with the 'AA+' rating," Stephen Ogilvie, a primary credit analyst, said in his report.

Indyanne is euthanized: Indyanne, who won two Grade III races last year, has been euthanized, said John Sikura, who owned the 4-year-old filly.
Indyanne, who was trained by Greg Gilchrist, fractured a sesamoid in her front-left ankle in the Grade I La Brea on Dec. 27 at Santa Anita in Arcadia, Calif.
"Her condition deteriorated to the point that she could not enjoy a pain-free life," Sikura said. "A lack of blood supply to the area of the injured limb caused a large wound that did not respond to treatment."
For most of her racing career, Indyanne was owned by David and Jill Heerensperger of Bellevue, who purchased her as a 2-year-old for $375,000. The Kentucky-bred filly, who had exceptional early speed, won 5 of 6 starts and earned $434,870 for the Heerenspergers before being sold to Sikura.
The La Brea was Indyanne's second start for Sikura. She finished second in the Nov. 22 Sausalito at Golden Gate Fields in Albany, Calif., earning $15,000 in her first race for Sikura.

Sainz wins stage, biker Guerrero is injured: Carlos Sainz of Spain won a stage for the fourth time in the Dakar Rally to keep his overall lead after a day of racing in the desert in Chile.
Spanish biker Cristobal Guerrero was involved in a serious accident and taken by helicopter to a hospital in Copiapo, Chile. Dr. Anita Quiroga, hospital director, said surgeons drained fluid from Guerrero's brain. Quiroga called the next 24 hours "crucial to determine his prospects."
The 10th stage was shortened because of hard terrain and today's 11th stage back into Argentina was canceled because of expected thick fog.
Marc Coma of Spain continues to lead the motorbike division.
Yates Racing to run Hall of Fame's team: Hall of Fame Racing became the latest NASCAR team to use a merger to stave off collapse, aligning with Yates Racing to keep its operation running into the new season.
The team signed ex-Cup series champion Bobby Labonte to drive the No. 96 Ford, which will operate out of Yates' shop, and secured primary sponsorship from search engine Ask.com for the first 18 races.
