FEDERAL WAY — The Washington men's swimming team remained undefeated at 5-0 while the women improved to 5-2 as each squad defeated both Seattle University and the University of British Columbia in a dual meet Thursday at the King County Aquatic Center.
The men defeated Seattle U., 167-85, and British Columbia, 136-125, while the women defeated Seattle U., 151-97, and British Columbia, 139-111. The Redhawks men lost to British Columbia, 203-58, as did the women, 185-77.
The UW men were led by junior David Bai of Kent, who won three races in the freestyle events. Bai took first in the 50-, 100- and 200-yard free with times of 21.38 seconds, 45.70 and 1:42.73, respectively. The men went 1-2 in both the 100 and 200 free, with sophomore Ben Aaberg finishing second in the 100 free in 46.56 and sophomore Andre Blyth right behind Bai in the 200 free in 1:42.83.
The Washington women won 10 races, taking the top three spots in six events, including placing the top four in the 200 free. Seven different Huskies won races, led by senior Lindsey Sharp, sophomore Ashley Daly of Seattle and freshman Hannah Ross, who each won two races.
Daly took both distance free events, winning the 500 in 5:01.03, just ahead of teammates Petra Radovic, who finished second in 5:03.04, and Ally Rich, who was third in 5:03.60. Daly again topped Radovic in the 1,000 free, finishing in 10:15.00 compared with Radovic's 10:17.86.
Doug Djang of Seattle U. finished third in the 100 breaststroke in 57.44 seconds and second in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:07.76. James White finished fourth in the 1,000 freestyle with a time of 10:03.40 and fifth in the 500 freestyle in 4:52.53.
Bryson Chiu also posted two top-five performances, finishing fifth in the 100 backstroke in 55.07 seconds and in the 200 backstroke in 2:01.57. Jordan Anderson finished fifth in the 50 freestyle with a time of 21.64 seconds.
Seattle U.'s Tina Nguyen, Alexis Morehouse, Heather Nelson and Hayley Cobb finished second in the 400 medley relay in 4:16.92. Cobb finished fifth in the 200 butterfly in 2:15.51 and in the 200 individual medley in 2:12.20.
UW swimmer leaves
Ariana Kukors, who participated in the U.S. Olympic trials, has left the Washington swim team to focus on club swimming.
Kukors, a graduate of Auburn Mountainview High School, set six school records last season as a freshman, and was an All-American, finishing in the top four in three events at the NCAA championships. She was the Pac-10 newcomer of the year.

• Seattle Pacific (4-15, 2-8) ended a six-match volleyball losing streak and Nikki Finley had 21 kills in a three-game Great Northwest Athletic Conference victory against Alaska Anchorage (12-11, 4-6). The scores in Brougham Pavilion were 25-22, 29-27, 25-20.
• No. 12 Western Washington (15-2, 7-2 GNAC) took just 67 minutes to sweep Montana State (5-19, 2-8) in volleyball in Billings. The set scores were 25-16, 25-18, 25-7.
• Central Washington (14-8, 6-4 GNAC) beat Saint Martin's University (4-15, 1-9), 25-8, 16-25, 25-18, 25-21, in Lacey.
• Eastern Washington (11-9, 6-3 Big Sky) defeated Idaho State (5-16, 2-7) at home, 22-25, 25-21, 25-21, 25-21.
• In the annual Hudson Cup golf matches, professionals and amateurs are tied with five points apiece after the first day at The Members Club at Aldarra. Pros leads amateurs 6-4 in senior matches. All competition concludes today with singles matches.
