Seattle University women's basketball released Tuesday its 2008-09 schedule, which features nine games on the road against Division I schools. Seattle is making a transition from Division II to Division I.
The Redhawks' first game is Friday, Nov. 14 against Boise State. They also will play in the Husky Classic at Bank of America Arena, facing host Washington on Nov. 28 and then either Kent State or Clemson on Nov. 30.
The Redhawks, coming off a 16-11 season, host Seattle Pacific in their home opener Tuesday, Dec. 2.
Notes
• Three Central Washington football players were named to the D2football.com Preseason All-America teams, which were released Tuesday. Quarterback Mike Reilly (Kalispell, Mont./Flathead HS) and tight end Jared Bronson (Kent/Thomas Jefferson HS), both seniors, are first-team selections, and junior receiver Johnny Spevak (Edgewood/Puyallup HS) is a second-team pick.
• Corrie McGrath and Crystal Culp have joined the Washington State women's rowing staff, coach Jane LaRiviere announced Tuesday.
McGrath, a 2003 WSU graduate, will be the novice coach and Culp will be a graduate assistant coach.
• Five new inductees have been announced for the Washington State Lacrosse Hall of Fame.
Tony Olney of Seattle, Susan Haviland of Carnation, Vernon A. Smith of Maple Valley, Rob Hawley of Poulsbo and Samuel "Trip" Goodall of Spokane were chosen by the Washington State Chapter of US Lacrosse. Ceremonies are Oct. 4 at the Washington Athletic Club in Seattle.
• Puget Sound Senior Baseball League will host a Make-A-Wish Foundation event at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at Safeco Field featuring two baseball games to benefit charity. Admission is free, with donations accepted.
