About 4,000 players and 175 teams from 41 cities across the U.S. and Canada will converge on King County this week for Northwest Quest, the Gay Softball World Series.
Opening ceremonies are 4 p.m. today at Mural Amphitheater at Seattle Center. Games are scheduled Tuesday through Saturday at Russell Road, Celebration, Game Farm, Underwood and Petrovitsky parks, all in South King County. Championship games and closing ceremonies are Saturday at Russell Road Park in Kent.
The series is jointly sanctioned by the North American Gay Amateur Athletic Alliance (NAGAA) and the Amateur Sports Alliance of North America (ASANA).

Soccer
• The Seattle University women fell 2-1 to host Utah State on Sunday.
Lindsey Smart converted a penalty kick in the 70th minute to give the Aggies a 1-0 lead. In the 82nd minute, Shantel Flanary's shot from 12 yards put the hosts ahead by two.
Jamie Coe got the Redhawks on the board with 2:22 left, chipping a shot into the net for her second goal in as many matches.
• Junior Christi D'Agostino's first career goal was all the Gonzaga women (1-1-0) needed in a 1-0 win over Portland State in Spokane.
• The Eastern Washington women opened their 2008 campaign with a 4-0 road loss to Boise State.
• The Gonzaga men's squad posted a 3-0 exhibition victory over Trinity Western of Langley, B.C., in Spokane.
