The final round of the Washington State Women's Golf Association Championship Tournament is today at Meridian Valley Country Club in Kent.
The championship flight, 36-hole match features Ann Carr of Fairwood Golf & Country Club and Leslie Folsom of Rainier Golf & Country Club.
Carr defeated Denise Kieffer 2 and 1 while Folsom beat Debra Myers by the same score Thursday.
Notes
• No. 5-seed Patrik Fischer, a University of Washington player last season, beat Christopher Trippel of Mercer Island 6-2, 6-1 in the men's open singles at the Washington Open Seniors Tennis Championships at the Seattle Tennis Club. In round-of-16 play on the women's side, No. 2 seed Jacqueline Cako of Brier defeated Molly Knox of Richland, 6-1, 6-4. The tournament continues through Sunday.
• Two-time high-school state champion Sadena Parks of Spanaway's Bethel High School has signed a national letter of intent to join the Washington women's golf program for the 2008-09 season, UW coach Mary Lou Mulflur announced. Parks, along with current Husky Nicole Ferrero, will compete in next week's U.S. Women's Amateur in Eugene, Ore.
• Federal Way United Soccer Association captured two national soccer titles Tuesday as two of its girls premier teams won at the U.S. National Cup finals in Virginia Beach, Va. The Reign '93 Purple won the Under-14 Super Group championship and the Reign '94 Purple won the title in the Under-13 Super Group.
