SHOAL CREEK, Ala. — Cameron Peck of Olympia beat Dominic Bozzelli of Pittsford, N.Y., in 20 holes to advance to the finals of the U.S. Junior Amateur on Friday.
Peck, 17, trailed Bozzelli by two holes with two to play in their semifinal. But he birdied No. 17 and took advantage of Bozzelli's bogey on 18 to pull even. Peck won on the third extra hole when Bozzelli bogeyed.
Beck will face fellow 17-year-old Evan Beck of Virginia Beach, Va., in today's 36-hole final at the 7,251-yard, par-72 Shoal Creek golf course.
Beck defeated Jordan Spieth 1 up in their semifinal.
Peck reached the semis with a 5-and-4 victory over Emiliano Grillo of Argentina in Friday morning's quarterfinals.
UW women's schedule revealed
The Washington women's basketball schedule for 2008-09 features eight teams that went to the postseason last year — including Final Four squads Connecticut and Stanford.
The Huskies' nonconference schedule will be highlighted by a trip Dec. 18-21 to Cancun, Mexico, for the Caribbean Classic MTE. Nonconference home contests include matchups with a pair of WNIT teams from last year in Gonzaga and Boise State, along with the annual Husky Classic.
"We are excited about the schedule we have compiled for the 2008-09 season," coach Tia Jackson said. "There is tremendous balance all around, which helps prepare us well for the Pac-10 season."
Washington will play its season opener at home for the first time since 2004-05 when it entertains Gonzaga on Nov. 16 at Edmundson Pavilion. The Huskies will open their Pac-10 schedule with a home game against Washington State on Jan. 3.
Seafair run tonight
The Wells Fargo Torchlight Run at Seafair, an 8-kilometer race with many running in costume past thousands of cheering spectators awaiting the Torchlight Parade, is scheduled for tonight, along with a companion 5K run-walk.
