BLAINE — Seattle's Tom Phillips of Seattle defeated Keith Crimp of Ellensburg in a sudden-death playoff to win the 44th Pacific Northwest Senior Men's Amateur, held at Loomis Trail Golf Club and Semiahmoo Golf and Country Club.
Phillips, who held a two-stroke lead heading into the final round, and Crimp, who had led after the first round, both finished at 6-over-par 222.
In the playoff, Phillips hit his drive on No. 18 right down the middle and Crimp put his tee shot in the right fairway bunker. Crimp's second shot out of the bunker hooked into the lateral water hazard on the right side of the green, allowing Phillips to still make bogey and win the championship.
