Man U wins European Champions League: Manchester United beat Chelsea 6-5 in a rain-soaked penalty shootout in Moscow to win the European Champions League title Wednesday night after a 1-1 tie.
In the first final between two English teams, Edwin van der Sar batted away Nicolas Anelka's drive on the 14th kick to give Manchester United its third Champions League title. This championship, after titles in 1968 and 1999, came in the 50th anniversary year of the plane crash that killed eight United players in Munich, Germany.
Cristiano Ronaldo had scored in the 26th minute for Man U, his 42nd goal of the season. Frank Lampard tied it for Chelsea in the 45th minute.
Toronto beats D.C. United: Danny Dichio scored in the seventh minute and host Toronto FC held on to extend its unbeaten streak to six games with a 1-0 win over D.C. United in Major League Soccer. Toronto (4-2-2) hasn't lost since a 4-1 defeat in the home opener for United (2-7) on April 5.

Prado's tactics anger Big Brown's trainer: Trainer Rick Dutrow said he and Big Brown's ownership were unhappy with some of the race tactics that Hall of Fame jockey Edgar Prado used against their horse in Saturday's running of the Preakness.
But Dutrow stopped short of saying Prado's behavior had anything to do with Prado being replaced as Big Brown's regular jockey before the horse went on to win the Kentucky Derby and Preakness, or the fact that Prado is rumored to be a candidate to ride Japanese-based Casino Drive, the top threat to Big Brown's Triple Crown bid in the Belmont Stakes on June 7.
"It looked like [Prado] was just trying to keep our horse [trapped] in a box," Dutrow said. "It didn't look like he was out to get the best finish out of his horse."
Prado, who finished last in the Preakness atop longshot Riley Tucker, denied any wrongdoing.

Angel "Memo" Heredia said track coach Trevor Graham ask him to overnight mail the oxygen-boosting EPO, growth hormone and insulin for Jones' use. Graham is on trial after pleading not guilty to three charges of lying to federal agents about his relationship with Heredia.
Heredia testified for the second day at Graham's trial that, at the coach's behest, he also sold banned drugs to Olympic gold-medal sprinters Antonio Pettigrew, Jerome Young, Tim Montgomery and Dennis Mitchell.

Castroneves happy in IndyCars: Two-time Indianapolis 500 winner Helio Castroneves said he doesn't plan to leave the IRL's IndyCar Series for NASCAR any time soon.
Disputing a story in the Los Angeles Times that speculated on the Brazilian following former IRL stars Sam Hornish Jr. and Dario Franchitti to NASCAR, Castroneves said his comments were taken out of context.
