Governing body dismisses allegations of doping against Greene: Track and field's world governing body, the IAAF, dismissed doping allegations against retired American sprinter Maurice Greene, who won two Olympic gold medals in 2000.
Greene also denied the accusations, which were made by a witness in a U.S. government investigation into sports doping and reported last weekend in The New York Times. Angel Guillermo Heredia said he advised and supplied banned substances to track coach Trevor Graham and athletes, including Greene and Marion Jones.
"None of this is new," IAAF spokesman Nick Davies said. "There is no reason to take action against Maurice."
Greene, who announced his retirement in February, never failed a doping test. Greene told Britain's Daily Telegraph he had met with Heredia but did not receive or use any drugs.
"This is a bad situation for me," Greene told the Daily Telegraph. "My name's coming up in something and it's not true. ... I have met him before and when he was talking to me, I told him I don't believe in this stuff."
Davies said the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency had been looking into the link for years, without finding proof.

Harrison is first to win ATP Tour main-draw match at 15 since 2002: Fifteen-year-old Ryan Harrison beat Pablo Cuevas of Uruguay 6-4, 6-3 in the U.S. Clay Court Championships in Houston to become the 10th player in the Open era, which started in 1968, to win a main-draw match before his 16th birthday.
Harrison, who trains in New Braunfels, Texas, is the youngest player to get a main-draw win on the ATP Tour since Spain's Rafael Nadal in 2002. Nadal is ranked No. 2 in the world.
Harrison, who will turn 16 next month, won 17 of 18 points during one stretch of the first set.
"You always want to feel like you can win," Harrison said after the victory. "To go out and make it happen is another thing."
