With more than 16,000 participants, the downtown Seattle St. Patrick's Day Dash was the largest ever, race officials said.
Sarna Becker of Gig Harbor and Mark Mandi of Seattle won the women's and men's divisions, respectively, of the 24th annual footrace on Sunday.
Becker, 31, finished the 3.4-mile course in 19 minutes, six seconds. Mandi, 24, finished in 16:19.
Before the race began, former Sonic Detlef Schrempf gave a pep talk to participants, and he planned to walk and jog the course. The race benefits the Detlef Schrempf Foundation.
The race that began as a run linking two Irish pubs started outside McCaw Hall at 321 Mercer St. — Mercer Street and Third Avenue North — and ended at Qwest Field's north parking lot.
Neither of last year's top finishers — Uli Steidl or Kelly Strong — entered the race.
Regina Joyce, 51, of Lynnwood was first in the women's master division in 20:33, and Tony Young, 45, of Redmond was first for the men in 17:25.
Compiled from race reports.
