Cameron Peck of Olympia is tied for second after the first round of qualifying for the U.S. Junior Amateur on Monday at Boone Valley Golf Club in Augusta, Mo., after a 2-under 69.
Also in the field are Chris Cho of Kent (72, tied for 20th), Gaston De La Torre of Brush Prairie (74, tied for 42nd) and Dylan Goodwin of Mukilteo (81, tied for 130th).

Erynn Lee of Silverdale helped the U.S. to a third-place finish in the inaugural Evian Masters Junior Cup in Evian les Bains, France.
Lee fired a 74-73 — 147 in the competition that saw Japan (428) win the title of the teams made up of two boys and two girls, with Spain second (426) and the U.S. (438) third.
Notes
• Tobias Obenaus of Waidhofen an der Ybbs, Austria, and Martin Kildahl of Oslo, Norway, have signed letters of intent to join the Washington men's tennis team.
Obenaus is the No. 44-ranked player in the Austrian men's rankings, while Kildahl is fifth in the Norwegian men's rankings and 250th in the ITF rankings.
• Jabari Issa, a former Washington Husky, was signed to the practice roster of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League.
• Amanda Pulley, a first-team all-state selection at Tacoma's Wilson High School, will transfer from New Mexico State to Pacific Lutheran to play softball. Rachel Wheeler, who played at Rogers High School, also will transfer to PLU, from Texas Tech.
• Washington's George John (Shorewood) and Ely Allen (Kentridge), and Seattle Pacific's Jeff Hallenbeck (Inglemoor) have been selected for the U.S. Amateur Soccer Association national select team. Hallenbeck and John are co-captains of the 18-man roster that plays this week against Ireland's national amateur team in Cork and Tipperary Town, Ireland. They were chosen from a national pool of the United States' top college players.
• Alex Japhet of Edmonds and Cara Linnenkohl of Redmond will row the junior women's pair for the U.S. at the 2007 FISA World Rowing Junior Championships, Aug. 8-11 in Beijing.

• Former Washington State rower Sarah Waterfield will represent Canada at the 2007 FISA World Rowing Under-23 Championships, beginning Thursday in Strathclyde, Scotland.
Waterfield, a native of Kingston, Ontario, will compete in the women's eight with coxswain.
• Four finalists have been named for the Eastern Washington athletic director position: Robert Chichester, AD at California-Irvine; Bill Chaves, associate AD at Baylor; Peter "Mac" Hart, associate AD at Providence College; and Robert Minnix, associate AD at Florida State and a graduate of Spokane's Lewis & Clark High School.
