Prime time 8 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., NBC (or 3-9 a.m. and 3-9 p.m., CBUT)

Michael Phelps could match the greatest Olympians ever with a third gold in the Beijing Games on Monday, which would be his ninth career gold medal, tying the all-time career record, which is held by four athletes, including USA's Carl Lewis and Mark Spitz. He'll take on the field in the men's 200 freestyle final. Less than an hour later, he'll go in the 200 butterfly semifinal.

• Five-time Olympic medalist Natalie Coughlin will compete in her signature event, the 100 backstroke, along with Margaret Hoelzer, who trains in the Seattle area. Also, watch for the men's 100 backstroke, where Aaron Peirsol owns the world record.

Megan (Quann) Jendrick of Tacoma goes after her third career gold, this time in the 100-meter breaststroke. Her last two golds (100 breaststroke and 400 medley relay) were won as a 16-year-old in the 2000 Sydney Games; she's back at it eight years later.

• In men's gymnastics, Team USA will compete in the gold-medal final against favored China and Japan.

• In women's beach volleyball, defending gold medalists Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh take on Cuba live following their opening-round victory in Beijing, their 102nd consecutive match win.

Daytime 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., NBC
