Theater to allow texting and tweeting during performances

Posted by Letters editor

Rudeness now seems to be accepted behavior

After reading that the Tateuchi Center in Bellvue will allow/encourage its audience to use their technology by texting and tweeting, I could not believe that a theater would do this. [“New Bellevue performance hall will allow patrons to tweet, text,” NWMonday, Nov. 28.]

What has our society become? The idea that this would entice the younger generation to go to a show so that they could use their phones during the performance appals me. Why even bother to go?

It has gotten to the point that rudeness seems to be accepted behavior. Do we not go to see a performance to watch the stage? Personally, I would never support a performance center that allows this, and I hope the arts community will feel the same way.
