Israel blocks supply boats heading to Gaza Strip

Posted by Letters editor

Necessary move will prevent bloodshed

The Israeli blockade of the Gaza Strip is both legal and necessary, as a United Nations investigation concluded in the Palmer Report last summer. [“Israel halts supply boats heading to Gaza Strip,” News, Nov. 5.]

Preventing weapons from reaching avowed terrorists is the most humanitarian, most peaceful, most legal way to prevent bloodshed. What kind of peace activists would defy centuries-old international law in order to make a provocative political statement in support of terrorism?

Do these peace activists also endorse indiscriminate rocket attacks from Gaza on innocent Israeli men, women and children? Are they the same peace activists who decry Israel’s response against Hamas when innocent Palestinian civilians in Gaza are hurt or killed, caught in the crossfire?

Support for terrorism and hypocrisy are not the hallmarks of true peace activists.
