Iranian President Ahmadinejad's U.N. speech
Posted by Letters editor
Strengthen sanctions against Iran
Editor, The Times:
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s outrageous suggestion that elements in the U.S. government may have aided or planned the 9/11 attacks to “save the Zionist regime” is deeply offensive to the loved ones of those who died and to all Americans [“Ahmadinejad sparks walkout,” News, Sept. 24].
Stronger sanctions against Iran need to be imposed by the U.N. to stop Iran from continuing illegal nuclear activities.
Iran must not be allowed to acquire nuclear arms that would threaten its neighbors, destabilize the region and endanger the very existence of Israel and the free world.
— Josh Basson, Seattle
Media failed to cover new 9/11 evidence
A media uproar was created Thursday when Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad told the United Nations that the events of 9/11 were orchestrated by elements within the United States government.
What was not reported was that on Sept. 9 a dual press conference held at the city halls in New York and Los Angeles reported scientific evidence of a high-tech military explosive throughout the World Trade Center dust.
At both events, prominent scientists, military officers and actors made evidential statements that were reported in a press release carried by Reuters, Forbes, Lexis-Nexis and DigitalJournal.
The peer-reviewed, nine-author explosives study was not picked up by any major newspapers, though it spread rapidly to over 170 websites.
It would appear that the American public is not allowed to know such things through its media, though polls consistently show that 42 percent of U.S. citizens are skeptical about the official account of 9/11.
This uncanny disconnect between the public mind and the public media raises a chilling foreboding of fascism.
The universal failure of the media to report the new 9/11 evidence can only result from an orchestrated news blackout that will make the inevitable reckoning worse.

U.S. must defend Israel from Iran at all costs
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s call for a nuclear-weapons-free world was ridiculous. Intelligence services from around the world, governments including those of Russia and China, and outside experts are unanimously convinced that Iran is working feverishly to develop nuclear weapons.
President Obama should keep all options on the table should sanctions fail. Iran must not be allowed to acquire nuclear arms that would set off a Middle Eastern nuclear arms race and endanger Israel.
Perhaps there will be a war in the Middle East and perhaps not. But Ahmadinejad had better believe that we will ultimately resort to war to contain his murderous regime. Failing that there will assuredly be a war, and likely a nuclear war.
