Debate over global warming heats up

Opinions can’t override facts

It is true that opinions abound, but the hard temperature data of the last several decades points to a steady rise in Earth’s atmospheric temperature, and the measured levels of CO2 in the atmosphere are now some 40 parts per million higher than they were in the 1980s.

The deniers will continue to argue there is no problem, lining up behind Jeff Sachs [“Breaking the climate-change logjam,” Opinion, Aug. 1], who has been debunked over and over. However, if global heating doesn’t grab you, there is always peak oil ...
