Jon Brockman signs three-year deal with Milwaukee Bucks

Before he could sit down and take questions from readers in a live chat at The Seattle Times on Wednesday, Jon Brockman had to take care of a little business.

Jon Brockman goes from Sacramento to Milwaukee, signing a $3 million deal with the Bucks.

Before he could sit down and take questions from readers in a live chat at The Seattle Times on Wednesday, Jon Brockman had to take care of a little business.

The 6-foot-7 former Huskies power forward needed to sign and fax his three-year, $3 million contract to complete a sign-and-trade deal that sent him from Sacramento to Milwaukee.

"I think Milwaukee is a great opportunity for me," Brockman said. "Sacramento has quite a few bigs now; they drafted two. I just think it's (Milwaukee's) a place where they need a player like me. They need an energy guy and, hopefully, I can get into the rotation a little more. It's a better fit for both of us."

Brockman, 23, heads to the Bucks in exchange for Darnell Jackson and a second-round pick in 2011. Brockman said he still needs to fly to Milwaukee for a physical.

After faxing in the paperwork, Brockman spent an hour chatting with readers and then sat down for a second interview to talk about the trade that takes him to a young Eastern Conference team that made the playoffs with a 46-36 regular-season record.

"It's huge that they made the playoffs last year," Brockman said. "I'm excited to join the group and just be a part of it. With them going to the playoffs last year, there's a huge buzz in the city, and the fan base is really pumped up and getting into it."

After being selected in the second round by the Kings last year, Brockman averaged 2.8 points and 4.1 rebounds, starting four of the 52 games he played in.

He says he doesn't plan on changing his approach to the game.

"I'll fill whatever role they need," he said. "Energy, rebounding, defense, whatever it is. Shoot, if I'm just a practice player, I'll do it. Whatever the team needs to win."

Brockman is one of three local NBA players to change uniforms this summer, joining Spencer Hawes, who was traded from Sacramento to Philadelphia, and Martell Webster, who was shipped from Portland to Minnesota.
