NBA | Magic pins down Hawks 93-76

Dwight Howard had 22 points and 17 rebounds, Vince Carter added 21 points and the Orlando Magic beat the Atlanta Hawks 93-76 on Thursday.

ATLANTA — Dwight Howard had 22 points and 17 rebounds, Vince Carter added 21 points and the Orlando Magic beat the Atlanta Hawks 93-76 on Thursday.

The Hawks, attempting to tie Phoenix for the NBA's best record, dropped to 11-4. They missed a chance to improve to 8-0 at home for the first time since 1993-94.

Orlando wiped away the disappointment of a one-point home loss to Miami on Wednesday night with its sixth win in seven games.

Atlanta's half-court offense fell into a deep funk after Bremerton native Marvin Williams hit an 18-footer to give the Hawks a 57-44 lead with 10:26 left in the third. Over its next 34 possessions, Atlanta managed just six field goals.

"It was like we forgot how we got the lead," Hawks coach Mike Woodson said.

Notes

Carlos Boozer scored 28 points on 12-for-14 shooting, and Utah beat Chicago 105-86, sending the Bulls to their fourth straight loss.

• Oklahoma City has signed veteran guard Mike Wilks after a spate of injuries to the team's other guards. Shaun Livingston and Kevin Ollie are sidelined by knee injuries, and former Washington State standout Kyle Weaver suffered a shoulder injury Wednesday during a practice.

Wilks hasn't appeared in a regular-season game since the 2007-08 season, when he played in three games for the Sonics.

• Philadelphia guard Lou Williams will miss eight weeks after having surgery on a broken jaw.
