PORTLAND — Jamal Crawford, the former Rainier Beach star, scored 27 points off the bench and Atlanta outlasted Portland 97-91 Tuesday night.
Before the game, the Blazers held a moment of silence for Phil Lumpkin, who played two seasons in the NBA after being a second-round pick of the Trail Blazers in 1974. He was the longtime coach of O'Dea High School in Seattle and died at age 57 this past weekend.
Former Husky Brandon Roy scored 19 for Portland and Martell Webster of Seattle Prep had eight. Bremerton grad Marvin Williams had seven points and seven rebounds for Atlanta.
Notes
• Cleveland Cavaliers guard Delonte West was indicted on additional weapons and traffic charges stemming from his Sept. 17 arrest for speeding on a motorcycle and carrying multiple weapons. The eight-count indictment sheds no new light on why West, 26, was riding a motorcycle on the Capital Beltway in Prince George's County, Md., at 10 p.m. with two loaded handguns and a loaded shotgun. Prosecutors on Wednesday added an 8 ½-inch Bowie knife to the list of concealed weapons West was carrying.
• Dirk Nowitzki scored a club-record 29 of his 40 points during a frantic fourth-quarter comeback as Dallas beat Utah 96-85. Nowitzki broke the franchise record of 24 points in any quarter set by Mark Aguirre in 1984.
• Donald Sterling, Los Angeles Clippers owner and real-estate mogul, has agreed to pay a record $2.725 million to settle allegations by the government that he refused to rent apartments to Hispanics, blacks and to families with children, the Justice Department said.
• Paul Pierce scored 21 points, Rasheed Wallace had 20 and the Boston Celtics (5-0) remained unbeaten with a 105-74 win over Philadelphia.
• LeBron James scored 27 points and Shaquille O'Neal 21 in Cleveland's 102-90 win over Washington.
• Milwaukee's Michael Redd expects to miss about two weeks because of a strained tendon in his left knee.
• Detroit forward Tayshaun Prince sat out against Orlando with a back injury, ending his consecutive-games streak at 496. Prince last missed a game April 13, 2003 — during his rookie season — against Memphis. Prince will be sidelined for at least three games before his status is re-evaluated.
• Miami swingman Daequan Cook is out tonight against Phoenix because of a strained right shoulder.
