BILLINGS, Mont. — Rashad McCants scored 13 of his 15 points in the fourth quarter and Rodney Carney and Ryan Gomes hit consecutive threes to help Minnesota spoil the Oklahoma City Thunder's debut with an 88-82 victory Wednesday night.

The exhibition game was the Thunder's first since the team moved from Seattle to Oklahoma City during the offseason.

The Thunder led 71-62 with 9:54 remaining, but McCants scored 11 of Minnesota's next 14 points, tying the score at 76 with a dunk with 4:45 remaining.

Two more free throws by McCants and the consecutive threes by Carney and Gomes gave the Wolves an 84-78 lead with 2:23 remaining.

A basket by Chris Wilcox cut the Thunder's deficit to 84-80 with 2:11 left, but Sebastian Telfair made a basket and two free throws to finish the scoring for Minnesota.

Al Jefferson added 13 points and nine rebounds for the Wolves (2-0), and Corey Brewer had 11 points.

Damien Wilkins led the Thunder with 19 points, including a layup to tie the score at 78 with 3:04 to play. McCants fouled out on the play, but Wilkins missed the free throw. Wilcox added 17 points for the Thunder, Russell Westbrook had 13 and Kevin Durant finished with 10 points and seven rebounds.

Blazers' Webster breaks bone in foot

PORTLAND, Ore. — Trail Blazers forward Martell Webster fractured a bone in his left foot Tuesday night in an exhibition victory over the Sacramento Kings.

The Trail Blazers said Webster, from Seattle Prep, will be evaluated to determine the best course of treatment. A timetable for his return was not set.

Webster led the Blazers with 15 points and six rebounds in the 110-81 victory.

X-rays taken after the game showed the stress fracture of his fifth metatarsal and further testing confirmed the injury, which was not apparent during the game.

Wizards' Haywood needs wrist surgery

WASHINGTON — Wizards center Brendan Haywood will have surgery for a torn ligament in his right wrist, but it was not clear how much of the season he will miss.

Some teammates, including guard Antonio Daniels, who suffers from the same injury in his nonshooting hand, said specialists told him that the recovery could be months.

Haywood, hurt during training camp, visited two hand specialists in New York. His operation has not been scheduled, and the team said it wouldn't have a timetable for his return until after the surgery.

Washington did get some good news about another starter: All-Star forward Antawn Jamison has a bruised right knee and is expected to be ready for the start of the regular season. An MRI exam showed no other damage.

76ers beat

NBA champions

AMHERST, Mass. — Lou Williams scored 27 points and Thaddeus Young added 21 to help the Philadelphia 76ers beat the NBA champion Boston Celtics 98-92 in the exhibition opener for both teams.

Leon Powe led the Celtics with 12 points and Tony Allen had 11.

The Celtics' Big Three — Ray Allen, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett — got off to a fast start but played limited minutes.

Notes

Chris Bosh had 20 points and seven rebounds and the host Toronto Raptors beat New York 113-111 in an exhibition game, spoiling Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni's debut with the team.

Marvin Williams from Bremerton scored 19 points as the Atlanta Hawks spoiled Terry Porter's debut as Phoenix coach, rallying to beat the Suns 100-96 in Phoenix.

• Center Lance Allred, the first legally deaf player in the NBA, was released by the Cleveland Cavaliers.

• Los Angeles Lakers coach Phil Jackson was at practice, a day after missing the team's exhibition opener because of soreness and swelling in his lower legs.

• Indiana Pacers president Larry Bird has settled a lawsuit brought against a couple he claimed used his name without permission to promote a bed-and-breakfast in his former hometown in southern Indiana. Terms of the settlement were not disclosed.
