The Sonics added assistant general manager Troy Weaver to their front office Thursday.
Weaver had been the director of player personnel for the Utah Jazz.
"Troy comes from a very successful organization in Utah," Sonics general manager Sam Presti said in a statement. "He has a terrific array of personnel and coaching experience that will positively impact what we are trying to build here with the SuperSonics."
Before joining the Jazz, Weaver was an assistant coach at Pittsburgh, New Mexico and Syracuse. He recruited Sonics rookie Jeff Green, who played at Georgetown.
Weaver was also an AAU basketball coach in Washington, D.C., where Kevin Durant played. Weaver's AAU team produced Kansas State freshman Michael Beasley, the presumptive No. 1 pick in the June 26 draft.
