Turning point: With the score tied at 83, the Kings ended the third quarter with an 11-0 run to take control of the game. Seattle was outscored 32-18 in the third.
Key statistic: The Kings (28 of 32) attempted more than twice as many free throws as the Sonics (11 of 15).
Next: Los Angeles Clippers, 7 p.m. Wednesday, KeyArena.
It's no coincidence that Damien Wilkins' resurgence began when Mickael Gelabale suffered a season-ending knee injury.
Wilkins has scored in double figures in each of the past six games, averaging 14.2. And in each of those games, he played at least 25 minutes. On Sunday, he scored 18 points in 33 minutes.
"It's just me being aggressive, being decisive and playing every game the way I know how to play and stop looking over my shoulder," he said. "It's hard to do, but lately I've just developed a rhythm of just looking forward to the next play, the next shot and the next possession.
"Just not looking over at the sidelines every time I do something wrong. I'm just trying to take advantage of the opportunity and making the most of it. I've got a lot of pride and when this is over, I want to be able to look in the mirror and say I gave it my all."
Wilkins started 31 games at the start of the season at small forward and he averaged 11.5 points before moving to the bench Dec. 29.
"Whatever happens the rest of this season, I know I can be a productive player in this league," Wilkins said. "It's in me."
The sweet spot
When Jeff Green shoots a three-pointer, most likely he's standing in the left corner.
"That's my spot," he said. "I feel like when I shoot it, it's going in. I want to make it automatic."
Green hit two threes Sunday, snapping a two-game streak in which he failed to make a basket behind the arc.
Notes
• Coach P.J. Carlesimo said Johan Petro's play has dipped lately. The Sonics center has been hampered by early foul trouble in the previous two games, when he played just 20 and 18 minutes respectively.
• G Earl Watson is bothered by finger and calf injuries, but he doesn't plan to sit out.
• Because of a scheduling conflict involving the Mariners, FSN is broadcasting Wednesday's Sonics game on Channel 117 for Comcast users. It can also be found on channel 650 on DirecTV and channels 444-453 for Dish Network. FSN will also make the change on April 8, April 9 and April 11.
• Sacramento Kings C Spencer Hawes, the former Seattle Prep and Washington Huskies standout, has a sprained left ankle and did not play.
