Safety review ordered after Boston trolley crash

By GLEN JOHNSON

BOSTON —

Massachusetts officials have ordered a review of safety practices after a trolley crash caused by a driver who police say sent a text message before the accident.

Transportation Secretary James Aloisi (al-oh-EE'-see) said Tuesday he had asked American Public Transportation Association to review the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority's employment and training practices.

Aloisi also says he wants to look at the feasibility of implementing an auto-brake system on the Green Line. That's the line where nearly 50 people were hurt in the crash this month.
