GRAND ISLAND, Neb. —

A basset hound shot and left for dead in a central Nebraska field is now ready to be adopted.

The Central Nebraska Humane Society in Grand Island has nicknamed the dog "Bullet." The dog was shot in January in a rural Hall County field and was left with a bullet hole in his neck.

Humane Society officials say Bullet is now fully recovered and ready to go to a good home.

Authorities are still searching for the person who shot the dog.
