Man dies after being hit by train on railroad bridge in southeast Nebraska

A man is dead after being hit by a train in the southeast corner of Nebraska.

HUMBOLDT, Neb. —

A man is dead after being hit by a train in the southeast corner of Nebraska.

The Nebraska State Patrol says 29-year-old Shawn Anderson of rural Humboldt was hit by a BNSF train early Sunday morning and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say Anderson and two other men had been fishing in the Big Nemaha River, and around 1 a.m., began walking back to Humboldt, following a set of railroad tracks. Investigators say Anderson was walking ahead of the other two men and was hit and killed while crossing a railroad bridge.

An autopsy has been ordered.
