Marysville man pleads guilty to pharmacy burglaries in Washington and Oregon

The final defendant in a sophisticated burglary ring that involved thefts of narcotics and other drugs from dozens of West Coast pharmacies pleaded guilty today to conspiracy, burglary and drug distribution in U.S. District Court in Seattle.

Brian P. Green, 29, of Marysville, faces up to two years in prison and a fine of up to $1 million when he is sentenced in April.

Green is the 26th and last defendant to plead in the case, which involved thefts from dozens of pharmacies in four states. The thieves took large quantities of narcotics, which were later sold for huge profits on the streets.

Green pleaded guilty to participating in five burglaries in Oregon and Washington which netted drugs that cost the businesses more than $35,000. The pills were worth far more on the streets, according to prosecutors. Assistant U.S. Attorney Ronald Friedman noted that the burglars could net more than $100,000 in profit from each burglary — a single Oxycodone pill can sell for as much as $80 on the streets, Friedman said.

According to the U.S. Attorneys Office, Green admitted to pharmacy burglaries in Everett and Marysville, as well as Medford, Ore. and Salem, Ore.

Stevens was arrested following a 2006 traffic stop near Lake Stevens. Police found several hundred Oxycodone tablets in his car, along with a handgun.

Since the burglary ring was cracked, the number of pharmacy burglaries in Washington has dropped significantly, according to a news release issued by the U.S. Attorney's Office.
