The man, identified as Jose Angel Blanco, who also has used the name Jose Blanco-Naranjo, is 39. He is described as 6 feet tall, 190 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair.
He was charged today with first-degree murder.
Blanco is the ex-husband of the victim, Noemi Lopez, 31. According to charging papers, Lopez was stabbed more than 60 times in the living room of her home in the 7600 block of 46th Avenue South.
Police believe Blanco, who has relatives in Mexico, may be trying to flee the country, charging papers say.
King County Deputy Prosecutor Don Raz said in court charging papers said Blanco "is an extreme danger to the community."
The couple's 15-year-old daughter told police that after she left for church on Sunday afternoon Blanco called and told her not to return to the house, charging papers said. A relative who had taken the girl to church found Lopez's body, charging papers said.
Blanco's cousin told police that Blanco had called him on Sunday and talked about the slaying, charging papers said. The cousin said that Blanco was asking for phone numbers for relatives living in Mexico.
Police said Blanco may be driving a silver-colored 2001 BMW with Washington license plate 732PPB. Anyone with information is asked to call Seattle police or 911.
