India suspects to be tried in Pakistan

The Pakistani president says 20 terrorist suspects wanted by India in the wake of the Mumbai attacks will be tried in Pakistan if there is evidence of wrongdoing.

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan —

The Pakistani president says 20 terrorist suspects wanted by India in the wake of the Mumbai attacks will be tried in Pakistan if there is evidence of wrongdoing.

Asif Ali Zardari's comments Wednesday seemed to indicate that Pakistan would not hand the suspects over to India as New Delhi is demanding.

Zardari also said he doubted that a man being held in Indian custody over the attacks was a Pakistani citizen as authorities there say he is.

He made the remarks in an interview with CNN Larry King Live.
